The team had a great trip up to Alnwick International with four horses.
Mike Elvin’s Cougar Mail had her first run since her double clear at Bicton 3*L and produced another top 20 in the 3*S, with a lovely cross-country clear.
Molly Jackson and Rupert Neal’s Swhiskey did a lovely dressage test for 31 and brilliant clear across-country in the 3*S. Sadly his showjumping round wasn’t one of his best which lowered his placing. Being an ex-racer he does struggle with this phase and it’s the first time this season he’s reverted to his race horse ways so not too much to worry about.
Mark Johnson and Yvonne Mott’s My Forever Blue seriously impressed with a 32 double clear round his second Intermediate. A few time faults dropping him to a final eighth place, but he showed what an exciting horse for the future he is.
Meanwhile, Katy Mousdale and Roly Wilcox’s Templepatrick Jet had their first International run in the 2*S. A circle across country when Jet tripped on landing led to 20 penalties in an otherwise excellent round. They’re teaching each other lots.
A huge shout out to the Alnwick Ford Equestrian team, the ground prep was brilliant, the courses are big, bold, galloping and educational and it’s a thoroughly enjoyable event.
